As a Back-End Engineer you will:

  • Develop the Back-End of our real-time platform in Java along with our wider Back-End team (back-end stack:
    Java, Spring Boot, Python, C++, Shell-Scripts)
  • Work with our team to analyze user requirements, design back-end features and functionalities
  • Work on the latest
    web-service based architectures (Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, Nginx, Artifactory, Maven, Jenkins, ArgosCD, Microsoft Azure)
  • Design and manage RESTful APIs for seamless integration between front-end and backend systems
  • Ensure the scalability and reliability of applications through performance tuning and optimization
  • Join a highly collaborative, cross-functional team and work as part of an agile development process on modern development and collaboration platforms (Microsoft 365, Trello, others)
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, product managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Help mentor and develop Junior members of the team. Team management and task management is not a core responsibility, but we expect you to contribute
  • Receive mentorship as well as additional training from both inside and outside the company (additional courses, trainings, or certifications)

Required Skills:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering
  • At least 3 years prior experience in relevant position in back-end software development/ engineering

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, collections, multithreading, and exception handling
- Expertise in Spring Boot for creating scalable and maintainable applications
- Experience with traditional database systems (RDBMS) and a variety of data stores for unstructured and columnar data
- Proficiency in using ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) to manage database interactions
- Experience in building and consuming RESTful web services using Java frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Kubernetes
- Knowledge of testing frameworks like JUnit for ensuring code quality
- Experience in deploying applications and systems at large-scale including large-scale SaaS implementations
- Communication skills for effective collaboration with team members
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of Unix or Linux-type systems and command line environments
- Good knowledge of source code version management (svn, git)
- Good English

  • Experience with C++ is considered a plus
  • Experience with Shell scripting (bash, ksh etc.) is considered a major plus
