About the Role

Kerna AI Innovation, part of US-based Kerna Health ), is a newly established AI team in Athens, Greece. We are looking for a Lead QA Engineer to drive quality assurance across our innovative healthcare-focused AI solutions. This role blends hands-on QA activities, technical leadership, and team mentoring to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and user-centric products.

Responsibilities

● Technical Leadership: Establish and implement robust QA methodologies, frameworks, release processes, and best practices across manual and automated testing.

● Team Mentorship & Management: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of QA engineers through regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and professional growth planning.

● Test Strategy & Planning: Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies, overseeing execution from planning through to delivery, including regression, performance, usability, and security testing.

● Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Backend, Frontend, DevOps, and AI teams to align QA processes with business requirements and technical standards.

● Automation & Tools: Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of automated testing frameworks and tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, JMeter, etc.) to enhance test efficiency and coverage.

● Quality Advocacy: Champion the importance of quality assurance, encouraging practices that ensure consistent quality across all releases.

● Agile & Continuous Improvement: Advocate for Agile methodologies, enhance QA processes,

integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

● AI-Assisted Testing: Leverage AI-powered testing tools to increase test coverage, predict potential quality issues, and automate repetitive testing tasks effectively.

● Continuous Learning with AI: Explore and integrate new AI-driven testing and quality assurance tools to consistently enhance team efficiency and product quality.

● Lead by Example: Rolls up the sleeves and takes a hands-on approach, when needed, to orchestrate and participate in the testing activities including designing test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.

Requirements

Education:

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Work Experience:

● 5+ years of professional QA/testing experience, including both manual and automated testing.

● 2+ years of experience in a QA leadership role, with proven success in mentoring QA teams and driving test automation initiatives.

Technical Skills:

● Extensive experience with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.

● Proficiency in API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI, and familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter.

● Strong knowledge of test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr) and bug-tracking systems (Jira).

● Solid experience with continuous integration tools and processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD).

● Familiarity with version control systems, primarily Git.

● Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, especially Agile.

● Good working knowledge of database testing (SQL, NoSQL).

● Certifications in software quality assurance, automated testing, or Agile methodologies.

● Experience with security testing practices and tools.

● Background in healthcare, AI-driven applications, or regulated industry environments.

● Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for testing cloud-native applications.
