This open job position is for Marine Engineer Superintendent, who will be responsible for the technical supervising of the company's fleet. Fleet consists of specialized cement carriers with pneumatic and mechanical cargo systems.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills:

  • Graduate as Marine Engineer
  • Previous sailing experience is required as First Engineer (minimum of 1 year)
  • Preferably minimum 1 year of office experience as a superintendent engineer
  • Strong communication skills combined with the ability to work in a multinational environment
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written
  • Perfect use of computer communication and text editing software
  • Flexibility for frequent traveling abroad is required
  • Can handle stressful environments

Primary Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Guide, advise, and monitor the ships' operations. Think ahead with the ships' leading engine crew to assist them in their planning for the medium and long-term maintenance work onboard.
  • Arrange and manage the supply of spares, stores, and services to the ships for planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Researches information of a technical nature related to ships' equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, improvements, upgrades, or modifications for the reliable long-term performance of the ships
  • Prepares for scheduled dry dockings, surveys, and repairs on assigned ships from a technical and commercial point of view

Compliance:

  • Manages vessels in full compliance with local and international rules and regulations
  • Analyses and feeds back information on the ships' performance to the Master and Chief Engineer onboard.
  • Ensures compliance with all necessary operational certification and survey requirements applicable to assigned ships.
  • Ensures compliance with current terms of employment of the ships (charter-party terms) and other commercial concerns

Inspections:

  • Visits ships in ports to reasonably ascertain that they are operated in a safe, reliable, and economical way
  • Monitors function and performance during ship visits and initiates effective problem-solving of matters on board, whether these are technical, quality-assurance, health and safety, commercial, or personnel in nature
  • Takes ownership of any issue with respect to assigned vessels and sees the issue through to resolution

Budget preparation, monitoring, and control:

  • Prepares budgets in the required detail for the yearly operation of his assigned ships, scheduled dry dockings, surveys, and repairs within required timelines
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of building budgets and understands that budgets are guidelines, subject to the needs of the ships to be operated in a safe and economically sensible manner
  • Monitors expenses of assigned vessels and submits monthly variance reporting tracks against budget

Leadership:

  • Ensures that all reporting crew adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Evaluates and report on the performance of the Masters and Chief Engineers of his ships
  • Demonstrates commitment to Sirios Shipmanagement values
  • Promotes teamwork between ship and office and develops good working relationships with officers of assigned ships
  • Communicates expectations to direct reports; manages performance and provides leadership and support to team members
  • Performs other duties as required
