Downstream Process Development Senior Scientist Job Description

At the forefront of biotechnology innovation, our Biotechnology Center in Athens is now fully operational.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a high-caliber DSP Senior Scientist with advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in downstream process development.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute downstream process development projects, including chromatography and filtration strategies.
  • Design, plan, and conduct experiments to identify Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) and their impact on Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs).
  • Apply advanced statistical and experimental design methodologies (e.g., DoE) to optimize process performance.
  • Conduct process characterization studies, such as viral clearance, resin reuse, and process limit evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
  • Author and review technical documentation, including development reports, protocols, and support regulatory submissions.
  • Provide technical support during technology transfer and scale-up.

Job Requirements
  • PhD or MSc in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in downstream process development within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Expertise in chromatography, filtration, and process characterization techniques.
  • Strong grasp of DoE principles and statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
  • Experience with GMP environments, regulatory expectations, and tech transfer.
