Job Title: Technical Specialist - IBM i Development

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our team. As a Technical Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality software development and consulting services to clients in the insurance sector.

You will work on the IBM i (AS/400) platform, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to develop, enhance, and support business applications.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Design, develop, and maintain iSeries (AS/400) applications using COBOL, RPG, and CL programming languages.
  2. Analyze and understand business requirements to create efficient and scalable software solutions.
  3. Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing applications and provide timely resolutions.
  4. Implement modernization solutions to integrate iSeries with open environments and cloud infrastructures.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  6. Document software specifications, technical designs, and testing procedures.
  7. Ensure code quality and maintainability by adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  8. Participate in code and design reviews to maintain a high standard of quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Master's degree will be considered a plus.
  3. At least 3 years of experience in iSeries (AS/400) development, including COBOL, RPG, and CL.
  4. Experience in the Insurance industry is a strong plus.
  5. Strong knowledge of iSeries tools and utilities, such as PDM, SEU, RLU, and Query/400.
  6. Experience with SQL, DB2/400 database design, and data access methods.
  7. Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.
