Geoscience Data Specialist

The successful candidate will have experience in maximizing the usage of data and proficiency in leading projects for large-scale clean-up, migration, and restructuring. The role ensures that changes to information systems are secure, transparent, and align with company strategy.

In this role, you will be responsible for storing, managing, quality-controlling data covering all disciplines such as geology, geophysics, wells, production, facilities, etc. You will ensure that seismic data, well data, spatial data (including ArcGIS), and other relevant technical information are properly stored, organized, and accessible to support exploration and production activities.

The Geoscience Data Specialist will oversee the storage, retrieval, and archiving of seismic data, well logs, and other G&G datasets. They will implement and enforce data management policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of the company's geophysical and geological databases. Regular data quality checks will be conducted to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of G&G data. Additionally, the specialist will facilitate the distribution and accessibility of G&G data to internal stakeholders, develop and maintain data catalogs and metadata for easy data discovery and access, and support data requests from geologists, geophysicists, and other technical staff.

To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong knowledge of spatial data management and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS). Experience with data visualization tools and techniques is also highly valued. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL for data manipulation and analysis is essential. A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geoinformatics, or a related field is required. Excellent organizational and project management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective communication and teamwork skills, and understanding of cloud-based data storage solutions are also necessary.
