About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to lead the day-to-day operations of our accounting department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant supervises a team of professional accountants of different levels, and is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and compliance of all accounting activity across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong accountant who enjoys building processes and developing a team, within a growing, multi-branch organization.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Accounting Operations – Oversee and control the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. – Supervise and mentor the Accounting team; review and quality-check their work. – Organize and prioritize the team's workload to meet internal and statutory deadlines. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close – Maintain accurate and complete accounting records, including the general ledger, invoices and receipts. – Prepare and/or supervise month-end reconciliations and journal entries, supporting the Finance Manager during the monthly (M-E) closing process. – Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting inputs. Tax & Compliance Support – Prepare tax filings and supporting documentation (VAT, withholding tax, income tax) for the external tax partner and, going forward, the in-house Tax Accountant, in accordance with Greek tax legislation. – Ensure timely payment of tax and insurance obligations and the correct application of tax provisions. – Support tax audits and respond to information requests from the tax authorities or the company's tax advisor. Cross-Functional Collaboration – Liaise with the Finance Manager and the in-house Tax Accountant on tax matters, budgeting input and process improvements. – Coordinate with other departments on accounting matters relating to new branch openings and billing processes. – Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. Qualifications & Requirements Education – Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration; a relevant Master's degree is a plus. Professional Licensing – Registered with the Economic Chamber of Greece (Οικονομικό Επιμελητήριο Ελλάδος); Class B (Β' τάξεως) signatory rights required, Class A (Α' τάξεως) considered an asset. Experience – Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior team members. – Experience in a multi-branch or multi-entity organization is a plus. Technical Skills – Strong knowledge of Greek Accounting Standards (ΕΛΠ), Greek tax legislation and Greek labour legislation. – Working knowledge of myDATA and Taxisnet. – Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with ERP Pylon / accounting software. Language – Fluent written and spoken Greek and English. Key Competencies – Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to coach and develop a team. – High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over the accuracy of the numbers. – Well organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. – Clear, professional communication with both the team and senior management. – Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential financial information.
