We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician to execute end-to-end technical tasks in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) deployment. The technician will be responsible for fiber blowing, splicing, OTDR testing, troubleshooting, and customer installation activities, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate should be capable of interpreting civil drawings and splice sheets, performing on-site risk analysis, and reporting to the management team as required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fiber Installation & Blowing

· Operate fiber blowing machines and air compressors to blow fiber cables through ducts.

· Troubleshoot issues such as fiber blockage or cable stuck during blowing.

· Handle fiber with care during transport, blowing, and termination processes.

2. Fiber Splicing & Dressing

· Perform fusion splicing of optical fibers, ensuring low-loss, high-quality joints.

· Dress and organize fibers neatly inside enclosures, splice trays, and distribution boxes.

· Label all fibers according to splice plans and documentation standards.

3. Testing & Troubleshooting

· Conduct OTDR testing, power meter tests, and other fiber diagnostics.

· Identify and remove fiber losses, splicing errors, or faulty connections.

· Perform end-to-end testing and ensure all links meet project and customer specifications.

4. On-Premise & Customer Installations

· Drill walls and install PVC or steel conduits as required for fiber routing.

· Install indoor/outdoor termination boxes, ONTs, and related hardware.

· Connect and test internet services at customer premises.

5. Documentation & Drawings

· Read and interpret civil layout drawings, fiber routing diagrams, and splice sheets.

· Document fiber routes, splice details, test results, and customer handovers accurately.

6. Safety, Risk Analysis & Compliance

· Perform on-site risk assessments before beginning technical tasks.

· Report potential hazards, obstructions, or conflicts with existing infrastructure.

· Adhere strictly to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols and ensure site cleanliness and safety.

· Use PPE at all times and follow company and regulatory safety standards.

Requirements:

· Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician in FTTH deployment projects.

· Proficient in:

o Fiber blowing using blowing machines and compressors.

o Fusion splicing and handling fiber optic cables.

o OTDR and power meter testing.

· Ability to troubleshoot fiber routes and solve field-level problems independently.

· Skilled in drilling, conduit installation, and mounting of enclosures/boxes.

· Familiarity with civil drawings, splice sheets, and network documentation.

· Understanding of fiber routing best practices and fiber optic standards.

· Knowledge of HSE practices and ability to conduct on-site safety assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Vocational or technical diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.

· Certification in Fiber Optic Splicing or Testing (e.g., FOA, BICSI) is a plus.

· Basic knowledge of IP networking and customer premise equipment (ONTs).
