Job Description

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for experienced Senior Subcontract Engineers to join our Projects in UAE. The candidates will procure Subcontracts as allocated by the Procurement Manager and ensure subcontracts are delivered as per the Project Procurement Plan requirements (Time, Cost, Quality). The Senior Subcontract Engineer will be based at the Project Sites and will work under the direction of the Procurement Manager.

What will you need to do:

  • For assigned packages, source and propose the Bidders from approved vendor list and based on approved Subcontract strategy within the Project.
  • Draft and negotiate relevant agreements (e.g. Subcontract, Services Agreement, Charter Parties Agreement, Hire Agreement, etc.) in coordination with the Procurement Manager. 
  • Assist the Procurement Manager and Project Manager for all the post awards activities until the handing over of the subcontract works, including variations and claims management and drafting of the relevant correspondence.
  • Ensure that Subcontracts are performed and delivered as per Project requirements.
  • Adheres to procurement guidelines and work in full compliance with approved procedures, using available ERP Procurement tools and in accordance with Archirodon IMS System.
  • Ensure that all Subcontractor Pre-Assessment is done in compliance with the procedure to improve the performance of company/project in Subcontractor selection.
  • Coordinate with all relevant in-house departments to ensure all requirements are included in the bidding documents, including flow down of the Main Contract/Client's requirements, and prepare/issue the RFQ to the subcontractors of the Bidders lists.
  • Lead all technical / commercial / contractual clarifications with the subcontractors in cooperation with the other departments.
  • Highlight to the Procurement Manager any discrepancies in Subcontract processes, identify related risks and propose actions to minimize such risk.
  • Manage deliverables to/from Subcontractor, ensuring all deliverables are provided in a timely manner, providing any input to the applicable department as necessary.
  • Review Subcontractor's daily and weekly reports and conduct weekly or bi-weekly meetings, as appropriate.
  • Day-to-day review and follow up on contractual rights & duties for each subcontract. Notify the Procurement Manager of any contractual deviations and communicate their possible impact. Draft any correspondence with the Subcontractors, including notices to correct, variations and claims for review of the Procurement Manager.
  • Maintain the files for each Subcontract in an orderly fashion.
  • Manage the Subcontractor closing checklist, ensuring all appropriate closing documentation has been received from the subcontractors for the taking-over and final acceptance certificates.
  • Ensure the Subcontractors performance evaluations are performed as per Company procedures.

What you will need to have:

  • BSC Engineering University degree in relevant field (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical or Instrumentation) 
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of overall experience out of which at least five (5) spent as a Subcontract or Contract Engineer or similar roles.
  • Experience working with leading EPC contractors in the energy sector is essential, preferably in GCC countries.
  • Contractual skills and excellent written skills.
  • Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good communication, co-operation and analytical skills.
  • Displays passion, energy, drive, agility and resilience in achieving work-related goals under difficult circumstances.
  • Capability to perform under stressful situations.
  • Good knowledge of ERP software and MS office.
  • Basic knowledge of Primavera P6 software/ Microsoft Projects or other Project management tools.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
