Engineering / Lab Technician – Prototyping (Night Shift)

What To Expect
The prototyping lab in Athens Engineering Office is seeking a talented engineering technician to help advance Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. The prototyping lab supports engineering operations across Tesla.
What You'll Do- Assemble complex mechanical parts.
- Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, run programs, deburr, and finish parts.
- Operate LASER cutting tool.
- Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate assemblies.
- Tracking and documentation of prototyping processes and results when necessary.
- Collaborate openly with engineers and team members to find solutions, and proactively communicate with them through verbal, email, phone, and other internal electronic channels.
- Perform calibrations on equipment.
- Complete required preventive maintenance.
- Provide feedback on manufacturing methods and technologies.
- Collaborate with design engineers to gain an in-depth understanding of the design intend and independently work towards the most effective solution.
- Conduct experiments in accordance with all safety, quality, and efficiency standards by following written and verbal work instructions.
- Design fixtures and equipment for testing in prototype and production environment.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
What You'll Bring- Ability to identify and procure effective tooling and work-holding solutions.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
- Thorough knowledge in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.
- Experience with material removal processes.
- Demonstrate innovation, technical excellence, attention to detail and self-direction.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and mathematical competency
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment with tight deadline.
- English fluently in speaking, reading and writing.
- Ability to lift 25 kg on a daily basis.
