We are currently looking for a passionate DevOps Engineer to work on designing, implementing and providing advanced operational support for service, server, virtualization and computing/storage service solutions.As a DevOps Engineer at GRNET S.A., you will be responsible for monitoring the implementation details of an cloud-enabled application ecosystem under construction (AWS environment). You will work closely with the project contractor to ensure smooth implementation, write technical reports, and effectively communicate issues that need improvement. Additionally, you will operate and maintain the ecosystem independently once the project contractor has completed their work and stepped away.

Role Overview:

As a DevOps Engineer at GRNET S.A., you will be responsible for monitoring the implementation details of an cloud-enabled application ecosystem under construction (AWS environment). You will work closely with the project contractor to ensure smooth implementation, write technical reports, and effectively communicate issues that need improvement. Additionally, you will operate and maintain the ecosystem independently once the project contractor has completed their work and stepped away.

Responsibilities:

Implementation Monitoring:

Monitor the implementation of application ecosystems on cloud-enabled environments, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and best practices.

Technical Reporting: Write comprehensive technical reports detailing implementation progress, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented. These reports will serve as documentation for internal reference and future troubleshooting.

Communication and Delegation: Maintain regular communication with the project contractor, providing updates on implementation progress and highlighting areas requiring attention or improvement. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Operational Maintenance: Once the implementation phase is complete, take ownership of operating and maintaining the application ecosystem. Ensure continuous uptime, performance optimization, and security enhancement.

Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the application ecosystem, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. This documentation will facilitate knowledge transfer and support future enhancements or migrations.

Requirements:

·       Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools

·       Implementation of deployments, migrations, maintenance

·       Deploy updates and fixes

·       Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies

·       Strong understanding of cloud computing principles

·       Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

·       Experience with monitoring and logging tools

·       Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-

technical stakeholders.

·       Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Your profile

·       Proven working experience (at least 2 years) in administration of the Linux operating system and shell-scripting

·       Experience with git and code repository management.

·       Experience with containers (docker) and docker-compose. 

·       Feeling comfortable with container orchestration using Kubernetes and associated tools like Helm, Kompose, etc.

·       Feeling comfortable with proper setup of networking, load balancing, etc to support high-throughput applications.

·       Good knowledge of networking fundamentals and Network configuration management (IPv4 & IPv6)

Will be considered a plus :

·       Strong Analytical and problem solving skills

·       Working with agile methodologies

·       Experience designing and implementing continuous delivery and/or DevOps solutions or architecture patterns

·       Experience in proper setup of networking, load balancing, etc to support high-throughput applications

·       Experience with test automation and test-driven development

·       Prior experience with DevOps practices, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC) is a plus.
