Engineering Laboratories Technician

Metropolitan College, the largest College of University Studies in Greece and member of Alphabet Education, in the context of its continuous development, is seeking to enhance its Department for Engineering and Construction, at Marousi Campus,with an Engineering Laboratories Technician or Technologist.

Role Overview:

This role relates to to technical support of the engineering laboratory spaces (digital manufacturing, electronics instrumentation, electrical machines, materials testing, hydraulics) within the Department of Engineering at Marousi Campus. It involves the support of management of resources and students within the department.  Technical support collaborates directly with the head of department at the campus that heads activities of the department, and receives / offers feedback in bi-weekly meetings.

The role has as a main goal to synchronize engineering activities in own campus with respect to department students and staff, and ensure parity in practical skills, and assessment between campuses and for all students.

Role Accountabilities:

• Configuration of software and maintenance of hardware, in a range of technologies as required, and provide engineering software support to students / lecturers across the department.
• Manage and develop the digital manufacturing pipelines (accessories and tooling), including requirements for ancillaries (requesting / searching for accessories / auxiliaries pricing), inclusive of workshop safety systems including our tooling (e.g. cutter, temperature, drilling) and soft materials.
• Design, implement and manage the electrical and electronics measurement equipment, under the coordination of the head of department.
• Support lecturers during their teaching sessions in the event of setting up specialist equipment or trouble shooting as needed.

Critical Experience & Qualifications:

• Any qualification at Level 5 (HNC/HND), Level 6 (BEng/BSc) and up to Level 7 (MSc) will be considered
• Demonstrable technical experience on the application of digital workshop equipment (e.g. 3D printers) and electronics measurements (e.g. Oscilloscopes)
• Demonstrable experience or understanding of laboratory administrative processes.
