For a Leading Dry Bulk Shipping Company: Bunker Trader
Responsibilities:
- Source, negotiate, and execute bunker purchases for a fleet of dry bulk vessels operating globally
- Monitor global bunker markets, price fluctuations, and fuel quality developments
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with fuel suppliers, traders, and brokers in key bunkering ports
- Coordinate bunker deliveries in cooperation with vessel operators, chartering, and technical teams to ensure timely and efficient refueling
- Ensure all bunker operations are compliant with IMO regulations (e.g., IMO 2020), MARPOL Annex VI, and company quality standards
- Manage supplier credit limits, risk exposure, and cost forecasting
- Analyze post-delivery performance, pricing accuracy, and supplier reliability
- Support the finance department with invoice reconciliation and documentation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marine fuels, alternative fuels, and emissions regulations
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in bunker trading within the shipping industry
- Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business, or related field is preferred
- Strong knowledge of marine fuels (VLSFO, HSFO, MGO, biofuels) and global bunkering hubs
- Experience working with dry bulk vessels is essential
- Solid understanding of international maritime fuel regulations and compliance issues
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
- Proficiency in bunker trading software and MS Office tools
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset
