Semac Construction, a division of the Semac Group, is seeking an experienced
Welding Engineer (IWE)
to join our team in a permanent role.

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing all welding-related activities across our construction projects, ensuring that welding operations comply with project requirements, applicable codes, and international standards.

Additional Information

For the needs of an ongoing project, the selected candidate will be required to 
relocate to Germany for approximately 3–4 months
, working closely with our project team on site. All travel and accommodation arrangements will be covered by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) in accordance with project and code requirements.
  • Supervise welding activities and ensure compliance with approved procedures and international welding standards (e.g., ISO 3834, EN, ASME).
  • Review and qualify welders, maintain up-to-date qualification records, and monitor welding performance on site.
  • Conduct inspections, testing (VT, PT, UT, RT), and non-destructive examinations (NDE) in coordination with QA/QC teams.
  • Identify welding non-conformities, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain all welding-related documentation, including WPS, PQR, WPQ, inspection reports, and as-built welding records for handover.
  • Liaise with clients, third-party inspectors, and subcontractors to address welding issues and approvals.
  • Provide technical guidance to site engineers and welders to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Greek Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering.
  • Certified as
    International Welding Engineer (IWE)
    or equivalent recognized welding qualification.
  • Experience:
  • Medior level
    : Over 3 years of experience in welding engineering roles on industrial or infrastructure projects
  • Senior level
    : 7+ years of experience with proven responsibility for welding coordination and quality control on large-scale construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW), materials, and welding metallurgy.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, ISO 3834, EN ISO 9606, ASME IX, and other relevant standards.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to travel to project sites; valid driver's license required.

Optional Requirements (Considered a Strong Plus):

  • Hands-on experience with
    alloy steel piping systems
    , especially
    P22, P91, and P92
    materials.
  • Knowledge of preheating, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), and welding consumables associated with Cr-Mo steels.
  • Experience in high-pressure/high-temperature piping systems used in power plants or energy infrastructure.
