About Us:
Biomimetic PCC is a pioneering start-up specializing in biomimicry-inspired technologies. We develop laser-induced nano-textured glass surfaces that are ultra anti-reflective and super-transmissive, pushing the boundaries of optical innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laser Processing & Surface Engineer to lead R&D efforts in laser-material interactions and surface characterization.
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Laser processing & surface engineer will be responsible for Research & Development activities in the field of laser processing on transparent dielectrics. This incorporates designing and executing experiments, collecting, evaluating and reporting results. Additionally, the role involves performing various characterization techniques that involve spectroscopy, profilometry, SEM imaging and wettability among others. This is a crucial role that requires experience using lasers, analytical thinking and interpretation of results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laser processing experimentation and analysis:
- Design and execute laser processing experiments on transparent dielectrics.
- Analyze surface modifications using spectroscopy, profilometry, SEM, wettability tests etc...
- Configure and maintain optical setups and laser systems.
- Gather data and associate them with experimental parameters and surface characteristics.
- Document and present findings clearly.
- Performing R&D in the framework of EU Funded projects:
- Performing experiments aligned with project goals.
- Managing deliverable reporting.
- Collaborate with consortium partners and present results.
- Travel for project-related meetings and activities.
Personal development and company promotion:
Participation in conferences and/or exhibitions.
Participation in workshops and/or seminars.
General:
Willing to learn and adapt.
Qualifications:
MSc or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field.
Hands-on experience with femtosecond/pulsed lasers.
Proficiency in surface analysis techniques.
Strong understanding of English.
Proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite and AI modules.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in developing advanced laser setups.
Presentation skills.
Experience in gathering and interpreting results from surface characterization techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in using lasers for texturing glass.
Experience in working for EU funded projects.
