METRO is one of Greece's top employers, with more than 11000 employees. We operate one of the country's largest retail networks under the My Market brand, with 290 stores nationwide, and we lead the wholesale sector with 50 METRO Cash & Carry stores serving professionals across Greece.

Our success is powered by an ecosystem of in-house-developed enterprise systems — our ERP, Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Transportation Management System (TMS). These systems connect every part of our business, from pricing and promotions to warehouse operations and last-mile routing, ensuring our customers find fresh and high-quality products on our shelves every day.

We are looking for a Senior PL/SQL Developer to join our Enterprise Systems team and help design, enhance, and optimize these business-critical platforms.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Ability to build scalable, performant, and secure enterprise systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience in back-end engineering, relational databases (particularly Oracle), and PL/SQL in large-scale environments.
  • Working knowledge of English and Greek languages.

Personal skills

  • Analytical thinking and critical reasoning.
  • Willingness to understand internal business processes/functions.
  • Self-motivated, positive team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in a large retail organization.
  • Hands-on experience with the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence) for project and issue tracking.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Development Tools (Oracle Forms - Reports, Oracle APEX, OBIEE)

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex back-end processes in PL/SQL.
  • Optimize our systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to define deliverables that meet business needs.
  • Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, helping to establish new technologies and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
