Senior WordPress Developer

At JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa, Greece, we are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer
(remote or on-site) to design, develop, and maintain advanced WordPress-based websites and applications.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure web solutions, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a best-in-class user experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with EU Project Managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

• Analyze technical requirements to determine user needs and optimize development strategies.

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins.

• Design reusable WordPress templates and flexible page structures.

• Balance off-the-shelf tools with custom coding (PHP, CSS, JavaScript) to deliver pixel-perfect websites.

• Optimize performance for speed, scalability, and SEO.

• Ensure accessibility, responsive design, and mobile-first development.

• Integrate third-party APIs, services, and plugins as needed.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve WordPress-related issues.

• Implement security best practices, regular updates, and backups.

• Monitor hosting environments for performance and stability.

• Provide technical feedback to digital designers to ensure design accuracy.

• Stay up to date with the latest WordPress, SEO, and web technology trends.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

·  4+ years of proven experience in WordPress development (senior-level projects preferred).

· Expert knowledge of WordPress core, theme/plugin development, and customization.

· Proficiency in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL.

· Strong experience with page builders (e.g., Elementor).

· Understanding of SEO best practices and website optimization.

· Understanding of UI/UX principles and site architecture.

·  Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.

· Solid understanding of web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx) and their management.

· Experience with server maintenance, security updates, and performance optimization.

· Additional knowledge in programming languages, frameworks, AI-powered tools or emerging technologies will be considered a plus.
