The Job

As Financial Controller, you'll supervise and direct the financial activities of the hotel, safeguard its assets, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You'll serve as a trusted financial advisor to both hotel leadership and ownership, helping shape the success of Ace Athens through sound analysis and oversight.

What You'll Do

You'll lead financial operations with precision, integrity, and creativity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and administer the hotel's bookkeeping and accounting systems.
  • Review and approve all monetary disbursements, allowances, and payroll expenditures.
  • Oversee monthly accounting and reconciliations for cash, bank accounts, receivables, and inventories.
  • Safeguard financial records, contracts, leases, insurance documents, and other critical materials; maintain a reliable record retention system.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns and provide information for corporate tax filings.
  • Train and assist managers in understanding and interpreting financial reports and data.
  • Produce special reports as needed (e.g., weekly labor reports) to support decision-making.
  • Review existing financial controls to prevent misuse or loss of company assets.
  • Administer the competitive bidding process to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Act as liaison with government agencies and external auditors during reviews.
  • Manage renewals for all hotel licenses and permits.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements, budget reports, trends, and profit & loss reports, along with other periodic financial summaries.
  • Oversee hotel IT systems related to finance, including networking and applications.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to provide financial perspective and insights.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of management experience.
  • At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience in a hospitality environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), OPERA, and other hospitality-related financial systems.
  • A knack for balancing detail-oriented precision with big-picture thinking.
