a Health & Safety Senior Manager

Steelmet offers corporate services such as: Strategic Development, International Business Operation, Sustainability, Non-ferrous Metal Purchasing, Resource Recovery & Central Procurement, Supply Chain & Logistics, Operational Excellence, IT, HR, Communication, Financial and Auditing Services to the Viohalco Companies aiming to support them and drive best practices across the business segments.

The Health & Safety Senior Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and continuously improving the Group's Health & Safety strategy and performance across all subsidiaries. The role ensures compliance with applicable H&S legislation and Viohalco Safety requirements, supports subsidiaries in implementing best practices, and drives the Group's safety culture towards excellence, prevention, and continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous communication with H&S Coordinators of all subsidiaries, providing support and guidance on both routine and non-routine safety issues, ensuring alignment with Group standards and promoting the continuous improvement of each plant's safety performance.
  • Design and deliver safety-related training programs for H&S professionals and plant management teams, focusing on high-risk activities and promoting a proactive safety culture across all sites.
  • Provide expert advice and technical support to subsidiaries for conducting H&S surveys, gap assessments and running effective programs.
  • Conduct regular meetings with subsidiaries' top management to align on priorities for risk mitigation and control measures.
  • Evaluate subsidiaries' H&S assessments performed by the H&S auditor.
  • Monitor applicable national and international H&S legislation and inform subsidiaries of relevant updates.
  • Enhance H&S awareness and safety culture across all organizational levels through communication tools and dedicated initiatives.
  • Prepare and propose H&S standards, procedures, and programs for implementation at subsidiaries' level.
  • Organize and lead semi-annual workshops for subsidiaries' H&S professionals to support their development and monitor target achievement.
  • Act as the focal point for the H&S reporting tool (Intelex) and the Group's H&S Intranet.
  • Promote continuous improvement and ensure the consistent implementation of the Group's HSE strategy.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or relevant discipline) from a University or Technological Educational Institute (former TEI).
  • Master's degree in Engineering will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior Health & Safety positions within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven record in developing, implementing, and auditing corporate H&S systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and EU Health & Safety legislation.
  • In-depth understanding of H&S management systems and auditing techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
