Summary / Role Purpose:

The Senior C++ Build & Release Engineer supports the development of Electronics software products, processes and supporting systems. In this role, the candidate will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to administer hardware systems and software tools, accomplish development objectives, and oversee software releases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, maintain, and optimize complex C++ build systems (e.g., using CMake, Makefiles, or custom tooling) on Linux platforms
  • Manage build infrastructure and tooling for large-scale, multi-component C++ software projects
  • Automate software packaging and deployment processes for Linux desktop applications
  • Collaborate with software engineers to troubleshoot and resolve build and configuration issues
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl) to support automation of build/test/release workflows
  • Administer Linux-based development environments, toolchains, and system dependencieS
  • Improve reliability, reproducibility, and speed of build and release cycles
  • Ensure software releases are compliant with internal standards and external requirements

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with over 4 years of work experience
  • Working experience with source code version tools and/or automated continuous integration software

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong experience with C++ build systems (CMake, GNU Make, or equivalents)
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting and automation
  • Familiarity with software artifact management (e.g., Artifactory, Conan, etc.)
  • Knowledge of static code analysis, unit testing frameworks, or CI pipelines for C++
  • Experience working with large, legacy C++ codebases
  • Familiarity with compiler toolchains (GCC, Clang) and cross-compilation setups
  • Understanding of software versioning, semantic versioning, and release branching strategies
