PAVIMAR S.A. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Superintendent Engineer
to join our
Technical Department
. This critical role is essential for maintaining the operational excellence and technical integrity of our fleet.

Reporting to: Technical Fleet Manager

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management and technical oversight of assigned vessels, including:

  • Performance Oversight: Oversee the optimum technical performance, reliability, and maintenance of all assigned vessels.
  • Maintenance Management: Ensure the effective and efficient execution of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and all necessary repair activities.
  • Compliance & Audits: Monitor the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure strict compliance with all internal procedures, circulars, and industry rules (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL). Conduct and attend vessel inspections and internal audits.
  • Budget Management: Prepare, manage, and monitor annual technical repair and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective operation.
  • Dry Docking & Repairs: Evaluate all vessel repair requests. Coordinate and procure services from suitable workshops based on quality, cost, time constraints, and vessel trading commitments. Contribute to the preparation of dry docking specifications and budgets.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide immediate technical support and effective troubleshooting to ship's staff, resolving complex technical issues promptly.
  • Procurement: Identify, specify, and manage spare parts needs efficiently.
  • Incident Investigation: Participate in the investigation and analysis of accidents, security incidents, near misses, and NCRs to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Personnel: Participate in the selection and performance appraisal process for Chief Engineers.
  • Records: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records on the condition of machinery and systems for all assigned vessels.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent Engineer in a similar position within the shipping industry.
  • Education: University degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture OR a valid Chief Engineer's Class A license.
  • Training: Certified training in key maritime management systems, including: ISM, ISPS, Internal Audit, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Awareness, MLC, Risk Assessment, Management of Change, and Incident & Accident Investigation.
  • Language: Excellent command of both Greek and English languages (verbal and written).
  • Technical Acumen: Proven ability to handle complex technical decisions under pressure.
  • IT Proficiency: Computer literate, proficient with MS Office suite, and experienced with Shipping ERP/PMS software.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel abroad frequently, often on short notice.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise between shore management and vessel teams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and negotiation skills.
  • A solid understanding of basic accounting terms and budget preparation.
