Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and automate core Windows infrastructure (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, Windows Clustering) in a mission-critical/high-availability environment.
  • Lead projects to refactor and modernize legacy Windows-based systems — migrating them into infrastructure-as-code, testable, and observable components.
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD workflows using Microsoft-native or cross-platform tooling.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize system performance across OS, network, and application layers on a large fleet of Windows servers.
  • Define and enforce security baselines, patching, compliance, and monitoring standards across the Windows infrastructure.
  • Develop automation scripts/modules (e.g. PowerShell, DSC) — or use tools like Ansible, SaltStack, Terraform (with Windows providers) — to unify and maintain automation.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Windows-related production incidents.
  • Collaborate with SRE, Security, Cloud and DevOps teams to standardize and scale the infrastructure platform.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers; promote best practices for observability, resilience, and automation-first mindset.

Candidate Profile / Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise-level Windows Server engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Deep expertise in Windows infrastructure components: DNS, DFS, IIS, Windows Failover Clustering, and related services.
  • Strong automation and configuration-management skills: PowerShell (advanced scripting), Desired State Configuration (DSC), and/or configuration tools like Ansible or SaltStack (for Windows).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD processes applied to Windows environments (e.g. using GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools).
  • Experience integrating Windows infrastructure into hybrid or cloud-native environments (e.g. AWS or equivalent).
  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK (including Windows modules) — desirable.
  • Strong skills in Windows performance tuning, debugging, event-log analysis, and patch management at scale.
  • Experience in regulated, compliance-sensitive or high-availability environments (e.g. finance, trading, critical infra) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server automation, .NET deployments, and Windows Containers is advantageous.
  • Comfortable owning major production incident responses and leading post-mortems.
