About the job

About The Company

Founded in 2019, Ethos Lab is a forward-thinking research and consulting firm dedicated to advancing social welfare and sustainable development. Our mission is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge econometric research, behavioural insights, and real-world applications to create lasting impact for both the public and private sectors.

At Ethos Lab, we specialize in three core areas:

  • Innovative Research and Development: Leveraging applied econometrics and data analytics, we design policy solutions that drive social welfare, addressing today's most pressing economic challenges.
  • Behavioural Insights for Public Policy: We apply psychological and behavioural science principles to shape more effective public policies, helping governments and institutions create evidence-based strategies that work for people.
  • Sustainable Business Transformation: We partner with companies to integrate behavioural insights and data analytics into their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks, guiding them towards responsible and ethical growth.

At Ethos Lab, we believe in the power of data-driven solutions and behavioural insights to solve complex problems, improve decision-making, and promote a more equitable and sustainable world.

What the role entails

As an Economist at Ethos Lab, you will focus on econometric analysis, data-driven policy evaluation, and advanced statistical modeling. You will be responsible for turning complex datasets into actionable insights that inform our research projects and policy tools. Alongside quantitative analysis, you will contribute to the design of methodologies, the implementation of experiments, and the preparation of technical outputs. You will work closely with stakeholders and partners to co-develop data-driven deliverables and ensure analytical rigor in all project outputs.

What you will be doing

  • Lead and support econometric and statistical modeling for research and consultancy projects, including policy evaluations, behavioral interventions, and impact assessments.
  • Collect, clean, structure, and maintain datasets from surveys, experiments, and administrative sources.
  • Apply advanced econometric techniques (e.g., panel data methods, discrete choice models, treatment effects estimation, quasi-experimental designs, causal inference).
  • Conduct quantitative analyses through workflows in Stata, R, or Python (experience with SQL or MATLAB is a plus).
  • Prepare technical documentation, well-documented code, and project outputs, alongside contributions to academic publications and policy-oriented reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate findings clearly and transform analyses into actionable, evidence-based insights.
  • Advance methodological development within EthosLab's research portfolio and support proposal writing for projects with significant quantitative components.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Political Economy, or related quantitative field.
  • Proven training in econometrics and applied statistics, with experience in causal inference, experimental and quasi-experimental methods, and model-based policy evaluation.
  • Strong data management skills: cleaning, transforming, and merging large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in Stata, R, or Python (ability to write clean, reproducible, well-documented code).
  • Any experience with survey design, field data collection, or behavioral/experimental economics is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral English, with ability to draft technical and policy-oriented outputs.
  • You are ready to learn new methods, able to switch between tasks and topics quickly and sometimes work with challenging, complex guidelines
  • You are motivated and find pride in conveying your work to others
