Founding Lead Software Engineer

We're seeking a Founding Software Engineer to build the core technical infrastructure for our multiomics AI platform. You'll architect systems that fuse complex biological data streams and leverage LLMs to generate actionable health insights. This is a high-ownership role where you'll shape both our technology and company from day one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build data integration pipelines to fuse proteomics, genomics, and epigenomics data from multiple APIs
  • Implement LLM-based AI systems to synthesize multiomics data into actionable guidance
  • Build both backend systems and user-facing web applications for internal tools and partner integrations
  • Build secure, GDPR/HIPAA-compliant systems handling health data as well as APIs for partner data exchange
  • Make architectural decisions that balance speed of iteration with scalability
  • Help recruit, interview, and build out the engineering team
  • Establish engineering best practices and culture
Requirements
Technical
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing production systems from scratch
  • Full-stack engineering capabilities - comfortable building everything from data pipelines to user interfaces
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern web frameworks
  • Experience with frontend technologies (React preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI systems in production
  • Experience building robust data pipelines and API integrations
  • Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and infrastructure as code
  • Understanding of healthcare data privacy requirements
LLM & AI Experience
  • Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based systems in production environments
  • Deep understanding of prompt engineering, context management, and token optimization
  • Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and managing rate limits, costs, and reliability
  • Knowledge of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures and vector databases
  • Experience with LLM evaluation, testing, and quality assurance strategies
  • Understanding of LLM limitations and hallucination mitigation techniques
  • Familiarity with fine-tuning or working with domain-specific models
  • Experience building agentic systems and LLM chains for complex workflows
