We are responsible for operating, managing, and upgrading 14 Regional Airports in the most attractive destinations in Greece If you feel fitting the role's requirements, apply for the "Wildlife Controller". The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling hazardous wildlife species at the Corfu Airport to enhance flight safety standards. Furthermore, the job holder will record and analyze the wildlife strike and wildlife monitoring data, and implement an airport's Wildlife Hazard Management Program.

The role is located in our premises at Corfu (CFU) Airport.  

Requirements

What will you be doing?

  • Conduct the airport wildlife monitoring and control actions at the airport.
  • Coordinate the active and passive (habitat management) wildlife control measures.
  • Record daily wildlife monitoring and control activities in the Bird Control Logbook.
  • Review, analyze, and verify the wildlife hazard management reports submitted by the operations personnel (Bird Control Logbook reports submitted by the Airside Supervisors of the airports).
  • Implement the pyrotechnics and lethal control methods with the use of signal pistols and firearms.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of wildlife control measures and propose measures of continuous improvement.
  • Submit the incidents of the wildlife strikes to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
  • Ensure the supply, safekeeping, and proper maintenance of wildlife control equipment and consumables.
  • Monitor wildlife populations and habitat changes in the airport's surrounding area.
  • Support occasionally/on demand the airports' FG OPS Division regarding wildlife control and biodiversity conservation measures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, or wildlife management, or equivalent relevant experience in hunting or airport operations.
  • Previous relevant professional experience of approx. 3-5 years in a relevant position.
  • Good ornithological knowledge.
  • Air Traffic Control Radio License would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of national/international environmental and aviation regulatory framework would be a plus.
  • Competent in MS Office, analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Fluency in Greek and English (verbal and written at a professional corporate level).
  • Driving License class B.
  • Available to work in shifts.
  • Fulfilled Military Obligations, if applicable.
