We are excited to invite applications for the position of Cheese Master at Conrad Athens The Ilisian. In this unique role, you will be responsible for curating an exceptional selection of cheeses that will delight our guests and enhance their culinary experience. Your expertise in cheese pairing, tasting, and presentation will be vital in crafting a memorable experience throughout our dining venues and events.

As the Cheese Master, you will work closely with our culinary team to develop innovative cheese-focused menus, lead tastings, and educate both staff and guests on the art of cheese appreciation. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a transformative project that will redefine luxury dining in Athens.

• Curate and maintain an extensive cheese selection, including artisanal cheeses from local and international producers.
• Conduct tastings and enhance menu offerings with innovative cheese pairings and presentations.
• Create elegant cheese boards and pairings in collaboration with the Executive Chef and Sommelier.
• Engage with guests at tableside or events to educate and enhance their dining experience.
• Educate staff on cheese varieties, sourcing, and the art of cheese handling.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to design cheese-centric menu items for various events and dining experiences.
• Manage cheese inventory and liaise with artisanal producers and specialty distributors.
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations regarding cheese storage and handling.
• Stay updated on cheese trends, new products, and emerging producers in the cheese industry.

Requirements

• Education: Formal education in culinary arts, gastronomy, or a related field with a focus on cheese preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience as a Cheese Master or in a high-level cheese program within a luxury hospitality environment or in fine dining / culinary cheese service.
• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of cheese production and varieties, as well as cheese pairing principles.
• Skills: Excellent tasting and sensory evaluation skills with a passion for cheese and gastronomy.
• Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with guests and team members.
• Creativity: Ability to craft engaging and innovative cheese experiences within the hotel's dining venues and events.
• Language: Fluency in Greek and English is required; additional languages are a plus.
