As part of our growing operations, we are looking for a highly motivated Waste Exports & Licensing Coordinator to join our office in Athens, as a part of the Waste Management Department. This role will report to the Waste Management Senior Manager and will act as the key liaison between regulatory authorities, transport partners, and waste treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with transboundary waste shipment regulations. The role involves coordinating the preparation and submission of required documentation, monitoring approvals, and facilitating smooth shipment execution. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in waste classification and regulatory compliance, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Role Overview:

The Waste Exports & Licensing Coordinator will be responsible for managing and preparing Transfrontier Shipment of Waste (TFS) documentation for the export and import of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Your key focus will be ensuring the smooth approval process, tracking the progress of transboundary waste shipments, and ensuring their successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling requests for the collection and management of new waste streams for international shipment.
  • Ensuring proper classification of waste, according to regulations.
  • Preparing and submitting TFS documentation to the Ministry of Environment & Energy (ΥΠΕΝ), in compliance with the Prior Written Notification and Consent Procedure, following EU Regulations (EC) 1013/2006 & (EU) 2024/1157.
  • Communicating and liaising with competent authorities (destination, transit, and ΥΠΕΝ) to provide any additional information required for file processing and approval.
  • Collaborating with transporters, waste treatment facilities, and international partners to ensure smooth shipment execution.
  • Maintaining communication with international partners and exploring new facilities to expand cooperation for additional waste stream acceptance.
  • Coordinating transboundary waste shipments, including notifying authorities and transporters.
  • Monitoring and maintaining records of all transboundary shipments.
  • Tracking the progress of submitted TFS applications and responding to any authority requests.

Requirements:

Professional Experience 

  • Prior experience in a similar role will be considered a strong advantage.

Academic Background & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

Languages & Technical Capabilities 

  • Fluent in Greek and English (written and spoken);
  • Additional knowledge of German will be considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with PM Office;
  • Excellent command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
