Airport Wildlife Specialist

The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling hazardous wildlife species to enhance flight safety standards.

This role involves conducting airport wildlife monitoring and control actions, coordinating active and passive wildlife control measures, and recording daily wildlife monitoring and control activities in the Bird Control Logbook.

• Conducting thorough assessments of wildlife populations and habitat changes in the airport's surrounding area;
• Coordinating with air traffic control personnel to implement effective wildlife hazard management strategies;
• Developing and implementing an airport's Wildlife Hazard Management Program to minimize the risk of wildlife strikes;
• Analyzing and verifying wildlife hazard management reports submitted by operations personnel;
• Implementing pyrotechnics and lethal control methods with the use of signal pistols and firearms;
• Monitoring and maintaining wildlife control equipment and consumables;
• Providing support to airports' operational divisions regarding wildlife control and biodiversity conservation measures;

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree or diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, or wildlife management, or equivalent relevant experience;
• Previous professional experience of approximately 3-5 years in a related position;
• Good ornithological knowledge and understanding of national/international environmental and aviation regulatory frameworks;
• Shooting Skills license would be considered an asset; Air Traffic Control Radio License would be considered an asset;
• Competence in MS Office, analysis, and reporting tools;
• Fluency in Greek and English (verbal and written at a professional corporate level);
• Driving License class B;
• Availability to work in shifts;
• Fulfilled Military Obligations, if applicable;
