Senior Backend Developer Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to strengthen our existing systems and help us scale with confidence. This role requires a deep understanding of scaling challenges, database design, and system architecture.

As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for re-architecting parts of our monolithic backend to reduce tight coupling into scalable components. You'll also lead the migration to Terraform and refactor our questionnaire module to remove performance bottlenecks and simplify its data model.

Our ideal candidate has strong production experience with NestJS and deep knowledge of MySQL, including schema design, query optimisation, indexing, and migrations. They should also be confident in managing RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and EC2 on AWS.

Additionally, our Senior Backend Developer will work closely with our CEO and design team to shape APIs, collaborate with front-end developers, and review code and architecture with other backend engineers.

We're looking for someone who is methodical in researching and implementing solutions when tackling unfamiliar problems and takes pride in clean, maintainable, high-quality code that solves real problems effectively.

Requirements
  • Proven experience building production applications using NestJS
  • Strong skills in relational database design and optimisation
  • Comfortable managing and deploying on AWS, with awareness of cloud infrastructure best practices
  • Methodical in researching and implementing solutions when tackling unfamiliar problems
