
Environmental Compliance Specialist

Health, Safety and Environmental roles are crucial in the construction industry. A HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
This role involves implementing and monitoring Health, Safety and Environmental policies and practices on-site. The successful candidate will work closely with site management to ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with legislation and company standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Greek HSE legislation and international standards. They should also possess excellent communication, observation and reporting skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and propose corrective and preventive measures.
- Organize and participate in HSE training sessions, toolbox talks and safety inductions for personnel.
- Perform regular site inspections and audits, documenting findings and ensuring follow-up actions are implemented.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare reports and support root cause analysis.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a safety culture on-site.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure their HSE alignment with project standards.
- Keep updated records of safety data, inspections, incidents and relevant documentation.
- Support emergency response plans and drills.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role, ideally in industrial or construction projects.
- Previous experience in waste management or energy/power plant projects will be considered a strong asset.
Academic Background & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related technical field.
- Valid HSE-related certifications are required.
Languages & Technical Capabilities:
- Fluency in Greek and English (written and spoken).
- Additional knowledge of Italian will be an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with HSE reporting systems or incident tracking software.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Greek HSE legislation and international standards.
- Excellent communication, observation and reporting skills.
- Proactive mindset and problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to work in demanding construction environments with a hands-on approach.
- Experience in a multinational environment will be an advantage.
